All Eyes On The British Grand Prix

Joy Ryder - Tuesday 01.07.08, 19:06pm

Kimi RaikkonenThis weekend will see the Formula One teams and drivers at the Silverstone circuit for the British Grand Prix.

Kimi Raikkonen will possibly have a new engine for the race after the broken exhaust problem that ended his chance of a win at Magny-Cours.

The engine change to the Ferrari will be without penalties as the new rule states, that each driver is allowed to have one unscheduled change.

The Toyota team will be showing a new livery this weekend, courtesy of their partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures. With the release of ‘The Dark Knight’, a follow-up to the film ‘Batman Begins’, the films artwork will appear on the cars, the drivers overalls and the team’s motor homes.

Also in the paddock will appear the ‘Batmobile’ and the ‘Bat-Pod’ cars with some special media events taking place to add to the excitement. The Batmobile will actually be on track on the Thursday competing against the TF108.

Following the change of plans for the banning of tyre warmers from 2009, Bridgestone has modified its slick tyre compound.

The tyre warmers will remain for now as the drivers and teams expressed their safety fears and the director of Bridgestone motorsport, Hirohide Hamashima said,

“Having tyre warmers is preferable to not having them but we remain confident our tyres would have been suitable and safe without warmers.”
