All ten of the Formula One teams began their first public test session at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain yesterday in preparation for the first Grand Prix of the season at Melbourne on March 29.
BMW Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld topped the time sheets as the day come to a close on Monday followed by Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen.
Jarno Trulli for the Toyota team finished in third in the new TF109, that was sporting a new front wing , just a fraction slower than Raikkonen.
Despite this being the first major test session for the new Mercedes-powered Honda, Jenson Button was only eight-tenths of a second slower than the leading man to end in fourth place overall.
Renault driver Nelson Piquet completed the session in fifth place followed by the Scuderia Toro Rosso, driven by Sebastien Bourdais and the Red Bull Racing car of Mark Webber.
Adrian Sutil in the Force India car came in eighth ahead of Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima and McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen in tenth.
