Fernando Alonso proved to the doubters that he was capable of winning a Grand Prix without the aid of a safety car on Sunday at the Fuji Speedway circuit.
Alonso slipped into second place at the start of the race after qualifying fourth in the Renault following the race leader Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber.

Lewis Hamilton for McLaren, is on pole position tomorrow, after setting a time of 1:18.404 in the qualifying session today at Fuji Speedway.
Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari finished in second only two-tenths of a second behind Hamilton with Heikki Kovalainen in the second McLaren, completing the front row.

Timo Glock in the Toyota was the fastest man on track in the second free practice session in Fuji Speedway in Japan.
Fernando Alonso, winner of the last race at Singapore for Renault, came in second, only 0.043 seconds off of the ultimate pace.
