Despite McLaren having their points taken away amid the espionage scandal last season and finishing in last place the team are to avoid the indignity of occupying the last garage in the pit lane.
Bernie Eccleston, F1’s Chief Executive, according to a Finnish newspaper has ordered a re-shuffle so that the ‘Big Two’ can have access to the first class circuit facilities this year. He was said to have wanted the McLaren team to have the third pit garage but objections were raised by Renault who finished in third place last year and so the fifth garage has been given to the McLaren team instead.
The first three garages in the pit lane are larger and include better amenities for its personnel and guests, but McLaren have not yet confirmed this report.
