The struggling Super Aguri team will not be testing in Barcelona this week according to the owner Aguri Suzuki and still remain the only team yet to test their 2008 car . The team have had financial problems which have been fuelled further by the cancellation of the launch of the new car. Last week at Jerez, the team drivers, Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson both drove hybrid versions of the 2007 car which had several technical improvements.
Lewis Hamilton was awarded a trophy for ‘Breakthrough of the year’ at the prestigious Laureus World Sportsman of the Year event in Petersburg. Ferrari were also nominated for ‘Team of the Year’ award but did not win.
Brands Hatch is ruled out for the return of the Formula 1 cars at its track by the boss, Jonathan Palmer. He said that it would be ‘impossible’ without nearly $80 million in improvements. Even the future of Silverstone is in doubt, which currently hosts the British Grand Prix event.
Tickets for the European Grand Prix at Valencia are to go on sale at the end of February with a total of 112,700 being made available for the August street race. If all the tickets are sold it will make the event one of the best attended in Formula 1 and the word is that the construction of the circuit near the city’s port is proceeding well.
