Lewis Hamilton returned to Spain yesterday, thankfully with no repeat of the racism abuse he suffered in Barcelona. The British driver was the fastest driver of the day with a lap time of 1:19.102 with test-driver Pedro de la Rosa just over a tenth of a second slower.
Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber was third with the Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima in fourth.
Nelson Piquet Jr. came in at fifth followed by the second Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld in sixth.
Mark Webber finished in seventh, and Nico Rosberg for the other Williams in eighth spot after an off-track moment earlier in the day.
Ninth place went to Sebastian Vettel in the interim Toro Rosso with David Coulthard back in tenth spot.
Sebastien Bourdais in eleventh spot was in the other interimToro Rosso car with Rubens Barrichello and Lucas Di Grassi at the rear.
