On the third and final day of testing at Jerez, Heikki Kovalainen in the McLaren topped the time-sheets with an impressive time of 1:17.974, half a second faster than Mark Webber managed yesterday.
David Coulthard was the second quickest in the Red Bull car with a time of 1:18.485 followed by Kazuki Nakajima for the William’s team in third place.
Fourth was Lewis Hamilton in the second McLaren although the team were running very different front wheel inserts on the final day pushing on with further developments for the MPA-23.
In the fifth spot was the BMW Sauber driver, Robert Kubica outpacing his team-mate again with Sebastian Vettel in sixth.
Seventh place man was Nelson Piquet Jr. in the Renault with the second Toro Rosso car of Sebastien Bourdais in eighth.
Ninth was Nick Heidfeld and tenth man Mark Webber in the other Red Bull, nearly one and a half second behind his team-mate.
Giancarlo Fisichella in the Force India car was in eleventh with Jenson Button in the Honda coming in at twelfth.
Anthony Davidson was in thirteenth with the Super Aguri and on his tail in fourteenth, Nico Hulkenberg the Williams test driver.
The last two runners were Lucas Di Grassi in the second Renault and Alex Wurz in the Honda.
