Formula One driver Mark Webber, was hit by a car while cycling in the ‘Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge’ in Australia.
His injuries were reported as serious but not life threatening as he was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital after being attended at the scene by paramedics.
On Saturday, it was confirmed that he had broken his leg and underwent surgery to have a pin inserted to hold the bone in place. The only other injuries he suffered were a a graze on his left arm.
He is expected to remain in Hobart private hospital for less than a week and is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks, which means he is unlikely to take part in the teams scheduled test at Jerez next month.
