It was reported yesterday that the struggling Super Aguri team may have been saved by a mystery investor. According to the German magazine ‘Auto Motor Und Sport’, the Honda-backed outfit, run by former Japanese Grand Prix driver Aguri Suzuki will be in Australia for next weekends season opener after reaching a deal with the mystery buyer.
The deal is supposedly headed by a British company and a Middle Eastern sponsor with possibly some German involvement but this should be confirmed next week. The magazine also says that Suzuki has kept 100% of the share holding, will still be the team boss and the outfit will not be renamed.
Takuma Sato is still said to be assured of his drive for 2008 and 2009 with his teammate Anthony Davidson also driving for 2008.
