The Williams driver Nico Rosberg, has revealed that many of the drivers are concerned about the first floodlit race through the streets of Singapore in September.
He said “Safety is always a concern for street races, and that plus being under floodlights at night – safety is a bit of a question mark still.”
The street circuit is still untested and Rosberg has no idea how it is going to feel tearing through the street of the Lion City at more than 300kph at night. “I couldn’t tell you because I’ve never driven at night. I’ve never tested. There’s no track with lights so you can’t really prepare”, he said.
He is however confident that the authorities will have prepared for any safety issues ahead of the race.
Rosberg had an amazing race on Sunday and took third place for the team at the start of the 2008 season, definitely the team to watch out for this year.
