Qualifying For The Japanese Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton for McLaren, is on pole position tomorrow, after setting a time of 1:18.404 in the qualifying session today at Fuji Speedway.

Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari finished in second only two-tenths of a second behind Hamilton with Heikki Kovalainen in the second McLaren, completing the front row.

Fernando Alonso joins Kovalainen on the second row in the Renault after qualifying in fourth with a very impressive final lap from the Spaniard.

Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari, who is Hamilton’s closest rival with only seven points between them, starts in fifth place on the grid after a disappointing session for him.

Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber is still in with a chance after qualifying in sixth place followed by the two Toyota drivers, Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock in seventh and eighth places respectively.

The two Toro Rosso drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais, both made it through again to the final round of qualifying and were rewarded with a ninth and tenth place.

David Coulthard in the Red Bull will start in eleventh place ahead of Nelson Piquet in the second Renault and team-mate Mark Webber.

The Williams Toyota driver,Kazuki Nakajima, in front of his home crowd, took fourteenth place followed by his team-mate Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld in the second BMW Sauber down in sixteenth place.

The two Honda drivers, Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button finished in seventeenth and eighteenth place ahead of the two Force India drivers, Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella.
