Bruno Senna, 24-years-old, is the nephew of the great Ayrton Senna, and has just started his second season in the GP2 series but is hoping to step-up to Formula One in 2009.
He is on equal points in the GP2 series at the moment with the leader Alvaro Parente after a second place in last saturdays race and a fourth place in the Sunday sprint race.
He said “This is obviously the most important year in my career until now. It is now or never. If I can be (GP2) champion, I can have the opportunity to be in Formula One next season” he told the Irish Sun.
His mother, Viviane Senna, Ayrton’s sister, is said to be wary of his choice of career, after her brother was killed while racing in 1994, but as Bruno says “The cars cannot be compared with those of 14 years ago”.
Bruno has had to fight his family for his racing career and insists he is not afraid to follow in his uncles footsteps. He added “I want to be in F1 in 2009 or 2010. I am fast enough, and this season I want to prove this.”
