Williams fastest at Barcelona

Joy Ryder - Wednesday 20.02.08, 12:22pm

Williams were the fastest cars at the Catalunya track yesterday with Nico Rosberg quicker than team-mate Kazuki Nakajima by over a second.

It was a wet and windy day at Barcelona yesterday and only a few teams will be testing there this week.  Williams, Renault, Toyota and Red Bull will be running whilst BMW Sauber opted to test at the Valencia track.

Super Aguri should have been testing at the Barcelona track also but had to postpone due ‘problems beyond their control’ fueling ongoing rumours of their financial problems although this has still not been confirmed.

The Red Bull drivers, Mark Webber and David Coulthard were in third and fifth places with Fernando Alonso sandwiched between the two in fourth spot.

The Toyota driver Jarno Trulli was in sixth place and Nelson Piquet Jr. in seventh but due to the weather conditions only managed to complete eight laps several seconds behind the other Renault car.

The other Toyota car driven by test driver, Kamui Kobayashi returned to the pit lane after only one lap as the team decided to leave his testing until today.

McLaren decided not to test yesterday and the BMW Sauber team suffered the same weather conditions at their track and so limited their track time also.

Ferrari will be joining the testing today.
